Metrica was founded in 2016 in Milan by Lucio Quinzio Leonelli and Robin Rizzini. The former, born in Siena, is the firm's current President and Managing Partner. He holds three degrees, has experience in Marketing, Business Management and Finance and is also a lecturer in Design Management at LIUC. Born in Genoa in 1973, Rizzini is the Chief Designer, a graduate of the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan; he worked for Antonio Citterio and is a visiting professor at the Creative Academy and LIUC. The office integrates the creative dimension, humanistic culture and managerial expertise, combining industrial production and crafts in the fields of Design, Product Development and Business Strategy Management. The office operates globally and offers the possibility to purchase turnkey projects that include the following services: project brief, product development and prototyping, engineering, market research, marketing and communication services, quality control.

Metrica has collaborated with prestigious brands including Arper, Desalto, Fantoni, Paola Lenti and Ligne Roset. For MDF, they designed the Minima sideboard, bookcase and open shelf and the Lim and Robin tables. Their work with SP01 gave light to the modular Yee cupboard, the Holland desk, an ash bench and marble console table, the Max sofas, the Smith wood and glass tables, the Anita armchairs, the Thomas fabric chair, small armchair, stool and chair, the Etoile coffee tables and the Clarke stackable chair. They have also produced bathroom furniture, washbasins, mirrors, and wall units for Falper.

Products designed by Metrica have received prestigious international awards, including the XXIII Compasso d'Oro in 2014 for the 25 table made in 2011 by Desalto, for which they also received the Interior Innovation Award in 2012. They received the same award in 2013 for the Marina table designed for Etremis, which also won the Label Henri Van De Velde and the AZ Awards. In 2014 the Minima wall system by MDF Italia won the Interior Innovation Award and received a Special Mention from the German Design Award. The Boccaporto chair produced by Koleksiyon received several awards including the Elle Decor International Design Awards, the InnovationsPreis Architektur + Office, the Best Year Interior Design. Metrica has won several editions of the Archiproducts Design Awards.
